Canvas

We have two great ways to give you art with the textured look and feel of original canvas paintings – Canvas Transfers and Giclée Canvas. Although the processes are different for each, the result is the same: beautiful works of art with a depth that cannot be achieved on paper. Our canvas reproductions are not offered with mats or acrylic panes. The deep surface texture of canvas works well framed or unframed.

Canvas Transfers. Images are lifted from a paper print, transferred and permanently mounted onto artist grade canvas. This process seals and preserves the images in acrylic which gives them the deep and lustrous texture characteristic of oil paintings. Each canvas transfer is individually prepared by hand to your order.

Canvas transfers are available with an unframed Museum Wrap finish. Stretched and ready to hang, our unframed canvas offers a sleek, contemporary look. Museum wrap images fill the entire flat surface of the canvas and have clean, staple-free, raw canvas sides.

Giclée (Printed on) Canvas. Images are printed directly on to high quality artist canvas using the Giclée method. Giclée, a French word pronounced Zhee-Clay, literally means "spray". The most sophisticated inkjet printing process today, Giclée printing involves spraying tiny pixels of archival ink for rich, long-lasting color. Giclée printers use six ink colors, compared to four in traditional lithography. The colors mix on the surface to create true colors, rather than the dots that the eye has to blend together in a lithograph, creating a result much more like the original painting.

Tutorial for Selecting Frames, Matting and Wall Color

1. Select a painting by double clicking on its image.
   
   
2. To the right of the painting image, select the "Size Options" tab and then click the radio button for your preferred size. The size for "Image" and "Finished" then appear below the painting image.
   
   
3. The default Frame description appears just below the "Ships By" date. Click "Frame Detail" to view enlarged images of frame sections. Click the "Frame Choices" tab to view up to 7 frames and their names.
   
   
4. Choose a frame by clicking on "Select this frame" just under the image of a selected frame corner section. The painting is now shown with your selected frame.
   
   
5. To see several views of frame sections, click "Frame Detail" in the Frame box under the "Ships By" date.
   
   
6. To choose matting, click on "Mat Choices" to the right of the Mat icon or click on the "Mat Choices" tab at the upper right of the page. Click on the radio button for 1 Mat, 2 Mats or No Mat. If you choose 2 mats, tabs appear for Top Mat and Bottom Mat. For a top mat, select a color group and then choose from one of the available mat colors. Repeat the process for a bottom mat.
   
   
7. As a quicker alternative with reduced choices, you may click on the "Recommendations" tab at the upper right of the page. You are then presented with 12 choices of frame and matting combinations. If you are satisfied with any of these choices, you may click "Add to Cart" and save the time and effort of individually choosing the frame and matting. You do still have the option of customizing any of the 12 choices presented by clicking "Customize It" below any of the painting images. Then proceed as before to choose a size and click on "Frame Choices" and "Mat Choices" to customize.
   
   
8. To see a variety of wall colors, click on "Wall Color" just above the "Add to Cart" button under the framed painting image. You are presented a color matrix with 64 colors to choose from. More colors are available at the bottom of the page. After you choose a wall color, it appears in a rectangle surrounding the framed painting. Experiment with different colors until you have a preferred wall color.
   
   
9. You have chosen a painting, a frame, both top and bottom mats and a wall color. This is true customization.
