Our Paris Vacation 2006
My wife and I enjoyed a glorious eleven days in Paris in May 2006. I have created pages, with photos, briefly describing the attractions we saw and our experiences of each day. The purpose of these pages, recounting our vacation, is to allow you to anticipate some of what you can see on your visit to Paris so you can better plan your days in the City of Light.
On our first day, we visited the Isle de la Cite, the place where Paris began. We saw musicians in a Metro station, the Paris Palace of Justice, Notre-Dame, a police building and acrobatic street performers. We spent our third day at the magnificent Rodin Museum. We saw the major works of Auguste Rodin, the greatest sculptor since Michelangelo. On our fourth day, we returned to Notre-Dame Cathedral, attended mass and toured the interior. For more, click Day 4-Notre-Dame. We visited the incomparable Louvre Museum on our fifth day. On our sixth day, we focused on the beautiful paintings of the impressionist artists at the Orsay Museum. We were awed by the incredible beauty of Sainte-Chapelle on day seven. On our ninth day, we saw the majestic Arc de Triomphe and we walked the entire length of the widest street in Paris, the Champs Elysees. On day ten, we walked on the Left Bank where we enjoyed window shopping at exquisite shops, and saw activity on the Seine, a street art stand, statues, famous restaurants, and a sidewalk craftsman. One our eleventh and final day, we visited the Sacre-Coeur (Sacred Heart) Basilica with its beautiful interior and the Place du Tertre where artists display and sell their work and paint or sketch portraits while you wait.
